The phenomenal success of Vruć vetar is largely due to its stellar ensemble cast, a veritable "who's who" of Yugoslav acting talent, and its brilliant creative team.

This new venture also ends in failure. Frustrated and dreaming of a better life, Šurda, inspired by stories from a friend named Bob, decides to leave Yugoslavia and become a Gastarbeiter —a guest worker in Germany. His European adventure is a comedic disaster; none of the jobs he finds are to his liking, and he is forced to return home with his dreams unfulfilled.

The series was produced by Radiotelevizija Beograd (Radio Television of Serbia) and aired on Yugoslav television from January 6 to March 10, 1980. The entire series was shot in just eight months, which is quite fast for a production of that era. It was directed by Aleksandar Đorđević. The main theme song, "A sad adio" ( And now goodbye ), became an instant hit and is still recognized by generations of fans.
