Realtek High Definition Audio -hda- Version R2.8x -9239.1- Whql [repack] 〈Recent • CHOICE〉
If you have a motherboard manufactured before 2018, an older laptop, or simply prefer the reliability and simplicity of the classic HDA driver without third-party bloatware, version 9239.1 is an excellent choice. If you have a recent high-end motherboard or a laptop with special audio hardware (Nahimic, Dolby Atmos), the OEM’s UAD driver will likely provide better integration.

When to upgrade or roll back
| | Solution | | :--- | :--- | | Realtek HD Audio Manager missing after installation | This typically happens if a conflicting driver (e.g., a UAD driver or Microsoft’s generic HD Audio driver) is still present. Uninstall all Realtek, Dolby, DTS, and Nahimic entries from Device Manager and Installed Apps, then perform a clean reinstall. | | Front panel audio jacks not working or not detected | Open Realtek HD Audio Manager, click the Connector Settings gear icon (or “Device advanced settings”), and enable “Disable front panel jack detection” or “Make front and rear output devices two separate streams” as needed. Check that the front panel audio cable is securely connected to the motherboard’s header. | | Crackling, popping, or distorted sound | Try the following in order: (1) Increase the audio buffer size in Realtek HD Audio Manager; (2) Disable any audio “enhancements” (e.g., “Loudness Equalization”); (3) Update your chipset drivers, as PCIe bus contention can sometimes affect audio. | | Driver fails to install with “Error code -0001” | This error usually indicates an incompatible or partially installed previous driver. Use DriverStoreExplorer to remove any orphaned Realtek driver packages from the driver store. Then reboot and run the installer again as administrator. | | No sound after Windows update | Windows may have automatically replaced the driver with a generic one. Reinstall version 9239.1 and use the wushowhide.diagcab tool from Microsoft to hide the automatic driver update for Realtek Audio through Windows Update. | Share your motherboard model and results in the
