This patch serves as a prime example of "preservation through modification." As hardware ages and official servers shut down, the modding community often becomes the archivist. By translating the game, the modders preserved a version of the experience that might have otherwise been lost to time or locked behind a language barrier. It allowed English-speaking players to experience the "true" canonical version of the character as envisioned by director Yoko Taro before the release of the official Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139... remaster in 2021.
