In March 2025, Punjab's issued a strong statement clarifying that it does not issue "Identity Cards for toll-free passage." The committee condemned individuals involved in creating or using counterfeit cards, warning that such actions tarnish the reputation of legitimate farmer organizations. They also called toll taxes "unjust and illegal" given that road tax is already collected at the time of vehicle registration.
