Even the term kathoey itself carries a history of inclusion. In traditional Thai discourse, there were only three categories: chai (man), ying (woman), and kathoey (those who did not fit neatly into either). This tripartite understanding of gender stands in contrast to the rigid binary that has dominated Western thought for centuries.
These incidents highlight the tension between freedom of expression and the ethical responsibility of content creators and viewers alike. When videos are shared without context or for shock value, they can perpetuate harmful stereotypes and reduce real people to mere spectacles.
