The story is set in the picturesque hill station of Nainital and revolves around Dr. Mrityunjoy "Joy" Mukherjee (Manoj Bajpayee), a well-respected gynaecologist who is arrested on suspicion of being a serial killer. He is accused of murdering six young, unmarried pregnant women whose dismembered bodies were found in an isolated farmhouse owned by him. As all evidence points towards him, his devoted and pregnant wife, Sona Mukherjee (Jacqueline Fernandez), refuses to believe his guilt and suspects that he is being framed by Inspector Imran Shahid (Mohit Raina), her ex-boyfriend.

Joy's devoted and pregnant wife, Sona Mukherjee (played by ), is convinced of her husband's innocence. She believes the case is a personal vendetta orchestrated by the lead investigator, Inspector Imran Shahid ( Mohit Raina ), who also happens to be her ex-boyfriend. In a desperate attempt to prove Joy's innocence, Sona receives advice from a lawyer to commit a "copycat" murder—to kill another woman in the exact same manner as the serial killer. The logic is that if a similar murder occurs while Joy is in jail, it would prove the real killer is still at large and clear her husband's name. This extreme plan sets the stage for the film's central conflict.
